A clipper system will bring a quick hit of snow to portions of the Northeast today, with some lake-effect snow downwind of the Great Lakes.

A broad area of low pressure sliding through eastern Canada will send a cold front across the Northeast today. Along and ahead of this front, light to briefly moderate snow will fall this morning across Pennsylvania and New York before moving through New England later this morning and afternoon.

While there isn't an abundance of snow like we saw earlier this weekend, a few inches of snow is expected. In general, snow accumulations of one to 4 inches will be common from northern Pennsylvania through Maine before all is said and done.

Winter Weather Advisories are in place across eastern West Virginia into western and northern Pennsylvania.

As colder air sinks southward across the Great Lakes today and tonight, there can be some lake-effect snow band downwind of the Great Lakes. Most areas may pick up an inch or two of snow, but in the more persistent bands, upwards of 6 or more inches may occur, especially east of Lake Ontario and across the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where a few Winter Weather Advisories are in place.
