Snow Totals Through Tonight
An area of low pressure will cause a swath of snow across northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin this morning all the way to northern New England this afternoon and evening. Lighter snow will also fall in the Great Lakes States throughout the day today.

Snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches will occur in northern Illinois into northwestern Indiana, while 0.5 to 1.5 inches will be more commonplace across Michigan into parts of northern Ohio and northwestern Pennsylvania. Once the snow arrives in northern New England and upstate New York, a general 1 to 2.5 inches will occur with local amounts up to 3 inches possible in the mountains.

Travel will be slow due to the snow causing slippery conditions on roadways and pavements across the Great Lakes to northern New England. Everyone should take a little extra time to get to their destination today into this evening.

Winter Storm Warnings are in effect for parts of eastern Iowa and far northwestern Illinois early this morning.

Winter Weather Advisories are in effect across northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. This includes Chicago and Madison, Wis.

It’s never too early to have a supply kit packed in case of inclement weather. A simple kit including a weather radio, water, blankets, batteries, and non-perishable food items will go a long way in the event of a power outage.
