Today's Weather Outlook

Although a cold front disrupts the East Coast and Deep South, the rest of the nation should observe quiet and cooler weather today.

As rainy weather conditions continue to move eastward with a cold front, the Northeast will see continuous rain throughout the day. Rain will transition to snow atop northern Appalachia and the Adirondacks northward, though most populated areas toward the coast will be left soggy throughout the day.

The Southeast and Deep South should expect similar conditions, with a few showers drifting in the area throughout the day. The same cold front sweeps southeastward as well, impacting the Gulf Coast through North Carolina until it exits offshore by the evening. Daytime heating will provide Florida with a few pop-up showers and storms, but otherwise will mostly remain dry.

The Midwest will keep mostly quiet after Saturday's storms, with high pressure moving in and keeping weather conditions clear throughout the Plains. However, a few light rain showers could dampen the Great Lakes region with a weak upper disturbance. The U.S.-Canada border should expect a chilly rain and snow mix to accompany rain showers in the region.

The Mountain West will receive a day off from precipitation, ending the weekend on a dry note. The weather should be dry throughout the Rockies, West Coast, and Pacific Northwest, leaving outdoor plans unobstructed.

Both the Desert Southwest and the Great Basin Desert escape rainy weather as they remain dry.

Below-freezing temperatures will stay segregated today to the northern Great Lakes and mountain peaks in the Rockies, Sierra Nevada, and Cascades. Forties will be more prevalent in the country, encompassing the northern Plains, southern Great Lakes, and foothills of mountain ranges. Areas seeing 50s this Sunday will be the Northeast, the Ohio River Valley, the northern Plains, lowland regions in the Rockies, the Pacific Northwest, and the Great Basin Desert.

Regions in the 60s will be the Northeastern coastlines, the central and southern Plains, the Gulf Coast (except for Florida), and California’s Central Valley. Seventies will be present in the Mid-Atlantic, Desert Southwest, and Rio Grande Valley. Eighties mostly keep to Florida and more arid regions of the Desert Southwest.
