British Columbia Transportation triggered a massive avalanche on the Trans-Canada Highway on Friday, February 9, to reduce the snow load in the Lanark showshed area. The avalanche occurred near the Glacier National Park and was part of a larger avalanche control operation that was completed after heavy snowfall.
