Timelapse footage shows smoke filling the morning sky in central Oregon on Monday, August 14, after the Lookout Fire spurred additional evacuation orders in Lane County the previous day.
An ALERTWildfire live camera on Deathball Mountain captured these images on Monday morning showing the sun rising on the glowing fire, which was an estimated 215 acres in size, according to state fire officials.
The Lane County Sheriff’s Office ordered additional immediate evacuations for some areas on Sunday as the fire grew “rapidly” due to “dry, windy conditions,” said Oregon State Fire Marshal Mariana Ruiz-Temple. The sheriff’s office had issued evacuations for other areas on Friday.
“The next few days are very concerning with continued red flag conditions,” Ruiz-Temple said in a statement.
“To face these challenging conditions will coordinate the resources necessary through the power of the Oregon Fire Mutual Aid System to help our local fire service partners.”
