The Texas Gulf Coast will get hit hard through Friday, with areas of flash flooding likely. Louisiana will also be dealing with heavy rain later this week.
A slow upper-level low will move across northern Mexico today, drawing deep Gulf moisture into southern Texas. This will generate areas of heavy rain across southern Texas today through Friday, with the heavy rain shifting into southern Louisiana late Friday into Saturday.
The slow movement of the heavy rain will result in areas receiving multiple inches of rainfall from Corpus Christi to Houston and Beaumont. Including Wednesday's rain, total rain amounts of 2 to 6 inches are likely, with locally higher amounts of 6 to 12 inches. The highest rain amounts should stay south of Houston.
Flash Flood Watches have been issued for much of southern Texas, including Corpus Christi, Rockport, Victoria, and Laredo.
Heavy rain and localized flash flooding could also be in store for parts of Louisiana late Friday morning through Saturday morning, with 1 to 4 inches of rain possible, mainly across the southern half of the state.
Remember, if you approach a flooded roadway, it is best to “Turn Around, Don’t Drown!”
