Snow showers are likely (50-70% chance) to develop along and behind a cold front this evening. Snow will move from west to east across the area between 5PM and 2AM CST. Snow could become heavy at times with localized accumulations possibly exceeding one inch, though not particularly likely (10-20% chance). In addition, west- northwest winds will occasionally gust between 25-35 mph, perhaps resulting in wind- whipped snow and sharply lower visibility over short distances. The combination of reduced visibility (one-half mile or less) and snow-covered roads may result in difficult travel conditions this evening for some, but not all, locations across central Illinois. There was careful consideration of a Winter Weather Advisory. However, both the confidence and coverage of advisory-level conditions remain unclear at this time.
