-URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Juneau AK 725 AM AKST Sat Dec 13 2025 ...SNOW FOR THE SOUTHERN PANHANDLE OVER THE WEEKEND... .A long duration snow event is likely across the panhandle this weekend with two rounds of snow. The first round is bringing snow to the southern panhandle as of early Saturday morning. Snow will mix with, or change over to, rain in the far southern panhandle later this Saturday afternoon with the transition continuing into Sunday. For the Wrangell, Petersburg, and Kake areas the snow has begun and will last into Saturday evening. This snow will fade out Saturday night, leaving a lull in the snow late Saturday night. For Sunday, a second round of snow is possible. But this round will bring moderate to heavy snow to the central panhandle, from the Sumner Strait area to the Icy Strait area.
