URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service Anchorage AK 437 AM AKST Sun Dec 14 2025 Northern Copper Valley-Western Copper Valley-Central Copper Valley-Ernestine-Southern Copper Valley-Tok Cutoff-McCarthy- Including the cities of Mentasta Lake, Chitina, Glennallen, Copper Center, Paxson, Slana, Tolsona, Tonsina, Kenny Lake, 46 Mile, Nebesna, Gakona, Nelchina, McCarthy, Mendeltna, and Chistochina 437 AM AKST Sun Dec 14 2025 ...COLD WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM AKST FRIDAY... * WHAT...Very cold temperatures as low as 40 below zero. * WHERE...Copper River Basin. * WHEN...Until 4 PM AKST Friday. * IMPACTS...Dangerously cold temperatures as low as 40 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 5 minutes. Frostbite and hypothermia are likely if exposed to these temperatures. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The arrival of winds across much of the Copper River Basin caused temperatures to rise above zero for much of the area, resulting in isolated areas of wind chills to 35 below for today. However, winds are expected to diminish and temperatures should drop back down to 40 below zero by Monday or Tuesday and remain in that range into Friday. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
