      Mid-Atlantic Drenched With Heavy Rain
Moderate to heavy rain will lock in over the Mid-Atlantic today, bringing flooding concerns.

A cut-off low over the Tennessee Valley is pulling rich Gulf moisture up into the Mid-Atlantic today, causing widespread moderate to heavy rain and embedded thunderstorms. Much of Virginia, eastern West Virginia, Maryland, Washington, D.C., southern Pennsylvania, and southern New Jersey will see 0.75 to 2 inches of rainfall through tonight, with locally higher amounts of 2 to 4 inches possible.

Any thunderstorm activity will likely remain on the weak side today, but there is a chance for some gusty thunderstorms in North Carolina and southern Virginia this afternoon and evening.

The steadier rain should begin to break apart tonight into Wednesday morning over the northern Mid-Atlantic. While the rain isn't done in the region, rainfall totals on Wednesday will be lighter and the rain will be more scattered in nature.

Flash Flood Watches can be found from northern North Carolina into most of Virginia, eastern West Virginia, western Maryland, and south-central Pennsylvania.

Remember, if you approach a flooded roadway, it is best to “Turn Around, Don’t Drown!”
