Special Weather Statement
-# HEADLINE -------------------- Near Critical Fire Weather Conditions are Expected Today # SUMMARY -------------------- The combination of south to southeast winds gusting between 15 and 20 mph, relative humidity values between 35 to 45 percent, and dry fine fuels will lead to near critical weather conditions today across southern Vermont. Per coordination with our partners, the recent dry weather has caused fine dead fuels across the region to dry out. If any fires were to start the weather and fuel conditions could cause fires to quickly get out of control and be difficult to contain. For more information about the current fire danger rating, any burn restrictions, and wildfire prevention and education, please visit your state forestry or environmental protection website. # DETAILS -------------------- ISSUED AT Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at 2:40 AM EDT ISSUED BY National Weather Service Albany NY HEADER Special Weather Statement # AREAS AFFECTED -------------------- Bennington, Eastern Windham, Western Windham
Pollen Alert
-Pollen Index: 10.5 Pollen Level: high Predominant Pollen: Elm, Cedar/Juniper and Poplar/Aspen/Cottonwood. Based on past pollen counts and expected weather conditions, pollen levels for Thursday will be falling in the low range. This decrease is due to falling temperatures, rising humidity, and heavy rains in the morning and afternoon which tend to wash pollen out of the air. This reduction in pollen levels should be a relief to allergy sufferers.
