For the Cold Weather Advisory, dangerously cold wind chill temperatures as low as 15 below. For the High Wind Watch, northeast winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 65 mph possible during the weekend. * WHERE...City and Borough of Juneau. * WHEN...For the Cold Weather Advisory, until noon AKST Sunday. For the High Wind Watch, from Saturday evening through late Sunday night. * IMPACTS...High winds will blow around unsecured objects and may damage property and cause power outages. Travel will be difficult. Frostbite and hypothermia are possible if exposed to these temperatures. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Conditions are looking very likely for a strong Taku Wind event to occur this weekend, with an increased confidence in the peak wind gusts 60 mph or higher being for Sunday morning through Sunday afternoon. Confidence has increased on this time frame for the highest expected gusts, but uncertainty still remains on when the mountain wave activity will start Saturday night into Sunday morning, and for how long into Monday morning they may last. Fluctuations in wind speeds still remain in the overnight hours Saturday into Sunday and late Sunday into Monday. Cold wind chills approaching 20 below near sea level are also likely across the area through the weekend. Temperatures affected by Taku winds will not see as cold of temperatures, but could still see wind chills below 0 degrees Fahrenheit.
