A couple disturbances will increase the threat for flooding and dangerous winds across the Northwest.
An atmospheric river and a couple low pressure systems will work together to produce heavy rain and high winds across the northern Rockies and Cascades today through Tuesday.
Flood Watches & Warnings are up for the Cascade Range to coastal Washington and Oregon with additional watches in effect for eastern Washington and northern Idaho. Seattle and Portland, Ore., are both under this flood threat. Three to 6 inches of rain is forecast for the next several days which will bring the concern for significant flooding leading to debris flows, ice jams, and avalanches.
If you find yourself in the higher elevations, that rain will turn to heavy snow. Winter Weather Advisories are up for northwestern Montana, northwestern Wyoming, and central Idaho. Anywhere from 6 to 12 inches of snow will be possible with locally higher amounts.
High Wind Watches, High Wind Warnings, & Wind Advisories are in effect for a good part of the Northwest today into the upcoming week as well. Sustained winds of 25 to 45 mph and wind gusts 60 to 80 mph are forecast from the coast to the northern Plains.
