Flash freezing is also expected in these narrow snow bands. Additional snow accumulations up to one inch. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph. * WHERE...Portions of northwest Illinois and east central and northeast Iowa. * WHEN...Until 10 PM CST this evening. * IMPACTS...Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. Temporary whiteout conditions are expected and will make travel treacherous and potentially life-threatening. Strong winds will also make driving difficult. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...In a snowband, conditions will quickly become treacherous with whiteout conditions and flash freezing conditions. Apart from the snow bands impacts may be more limited. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Persons should consider delaying travel. If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution.
