Additional snow accumulations between 3 and 5 inches, mainly north of M-28. Locally higher amounts near Sault Ste. Marie and Whitefish point. Winds gusting as high as 30 mph will lead to blowing snow. * WHERE...Central Chippewa and Western Chippewa Counties. * WHEN...Until midnight EST tonight. * IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The combination of gusty winds and falling snow will lead to blowing snow and very low visibilities. Hazardous to potentially dangerous driving conditions are expected under the most robust snow bands. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Persons are urged to stay indoors until conditions improve. If you must go outside, dress in layers. Several layers of clothes will keep you warmer than a single heavy coat. Cover exposed skin to reduce your risk of frostbite or hypothermia. Gloves, a scarf, and a hat will keep you from losing your body heat. Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution.
