The snow showers will be variable in nature, with some locations receiving little to no snow accumulation, and others receiving moderate amounts. The heaviest snow showers are expected Friday evening. Prince of Wales Island- Including the cities of Craig, Klawock, Hydaburg, Coffman Cove, and Thorne Bay 112 PM AKST Fri Jan 2 2026 ...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 AM AKST SATURDAY... * WHAT...Snow. Additional snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches. * WHERE...Prince of Wales Island. * WHEN...Until 3 AM AKST Saturday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be difficult. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The heaviest snow will fall during the evening hours. Snow showers will result in highly variable localized accumulations. Some isolated locations and areas at elevation could receive more snow. While snow showers are falling across portions of the southern panhandle Friday with an Advisory in place, we are monitoring the potential for heavy snow for Monday into Tuesday. There is moderate confidence in the timing of the snow to move in from the west Monday morning, spreading inland through the day. Confidence is increasing on a period of heavy snowfall rates with potential to see 6 inches of accumulation. There is also likelihood to see rain mixed in near see level. These details will be honed in on in the coming days.
