For the Cold Weather Advisory, very cold wind chills as low as 24 to 30 degrees. Conditions will be more favorable for frost development across most areas late tonight and early this morning. * WHERE...Volusia, Lake, Seminole, Orange, Brevard, Osceola, Indian River, Okeechobee, Saint Lucie, and inland Martin counties. * WHEN...Until 9 AM EST this morning. * IMPACTS...Very cold temperatures can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure. Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Barrier islands of Brevard, Indian River and Saint Lucie counties may stay a degree or two above freezing. Also, the Orlando urban corridor may also stay a little above freezing. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, including a hat, and gloves. Protect tender plants from the cold. Bring pets and potted plants indoors. Check on elderly neighbors to make sure their furnace is working. -Coastal Hazard Message National Weather Service Melbourne FL 1240 AM EST Tue Feb 3 2026 Coastal Volusia-Coastal Indian River-Coastal Saint Lucie- Coastal Martin-Mainland Northern Brevard- Northern Brevard Barrier Islands-Mainland Southern Brevard- Southern Brevard Barrier Islands- 1240 AM EST Tue Feb 3 2026 ...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT... * WHAT...Dangerous rip currents and rough surf. * WHERE...Beaches of Volusia, Brevard, Indian River, St Lucie, and Martin Counties. * WHEN...Through late tonight. * IMPACTS...Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away from shore, which occur most often at low spots or breaks in the sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as jetties and piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards, beach patrol flags and signs. Entering the surf is strongly discouraged. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help. &&
