-Special Weather Statement National Weather Service New York NY 431 AM EDT Sat Apr 11 2026 Orange-Putnam-Rockland-Northern Westchester-Southern Westchester- New York (Manhattan)-Bronx-Richmond (Staten Island)- Kings (Brooklyn)-Northwest Suffolk-Northeast Suffolk- Southwest Suffolk-Southeast Suffolk-Northern Queens- Northern Nassau-Southern Queens-Southern Nassau- 431 AM EDT Sat Apr 11 2026 There is an elevated risk for fire spread today across southeast New York. Northwest winds will gust to 20 to 30 mph while relative humidity falls to 25 to 30 percent. These conditions, along with continued drying of fine fuels, could support the rapid spread of any fires that ignite, which could quickly become difficult to control. Conditions should improve this evening as winds diminish and relative humidity increases. Relative humidity on Sunday should fall to 30 to 40 percent. South winds may gust as high as 20 mph in the afternoon. New York's annual statewide burn ban is in effect until May 14. Use caution when handling any potential ignition sources, including machinery, cigarettes and matches. The forecast considers meteorological, fuel, and land conditions, and has been developed in coordination with state fire and land management officials.

-Pollen Index: 11.2 Pollen Level: high Predominant Pollen: Maple, Cedar/Juniper and Alder. Pollen concentrations for Sunday will be falling but will remain in the very high range. This change results in part from falling temperatures, rising relative humidity and weaker winds.
