-URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE National Weather Service La Crosse WI 228 PM CST Thu Dec 18 2025 ...BURSTS OF HEAVY SNOW, GUSTY WINDS, REDUCED VISIBILITIES, AND FLASH FREEZE... .A cold front moves through the region this afternoon bringing scattered to numerous snow showers and gusty winds up to 50 mph through this evening. Bursts of heavy snow are expected within the snow showers which combined with the gusty winds are expected to result in rapidly reduced visibilities and periods of whiteout conditions. Quickly dropping temperatures behind the front may also result in a flash freeze on roads that either remain wet from rainfall or become wet from snowfall, leading to slippery roads and hazardous travel conditions. Exercise caution if traveling this afternoon and evening.
