While moisture is expected to begin slowly recovering today, another very dry afternoon is expected with relative humidity values between 15 and 25 percent forecast across much of the area. Although winds will be mostly light, between 5 and 10 mph, the dry air combined with very dry vegetation will result in a continuation of elevated fire danger. Statewide burn bans are in effect for both North Carolina and South Carolina until further notice. Open burning of any kind is subject to fines until the bans are lifted.
Pollen Alert
-Pollen Index: 9.6 Pollen Level: medium-high Predominant Pollen: Maple, Cedar/Juniper and Poplar/Aspen/Cottonwood Pollen concentrations for Sunday will be falling but will remain in the high range. Since the weather has a major influence on pollen dispersal, this decrease is due in part to falling temperatures, rising relative humidity and weaker winds.
